How ESG Differs From Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Bypass

 The treatment of obesity with prescription drugs can be a good option when it comes to modifying the diet, physical activity, and lifestyle.

However, the role of weight loss drugs has always been questioned due to concerns about the effectiveness of these drugs, and the perception that most patients end up regaining their weight when the drugs are discontinued. In recent years, New York City has seen a considerable increase in the number of drugs approved for the treatment of obesity, several of them with very encouraging results.

In this article, we will explain which are the main weight loss drug options that our Innova Weight Loss Solutions team uses and which are the best options that our team can offer as an alternative to medical weight loss.

What Are the Goals of Medicated Weight Loss Treatment? All patients who undergo weight loss treatment must be supervised by a medical professional to have a realistic and achievable goal. The ideal outcome of this treatment is a return to normal body weight, but this is unrealistic in many cases without the aid of medication or weight loss procedures. The most important thing is that the doctor and the patient must clarify the real possibilities of weight loss so that there is no frustration after a few months. Treatment should be viewed as a discipline and long-term habit-building. In treatment with anti-obesity drugs, losses of 10-25% of body weight are considered excellent results, even though the patient is still far from the weight they want to be. In fact, losses of more than 5% of body weight are already enough to reduce the risks of diabetes, hypertension, and other cardiovascular diseases. For this reason, our team has excellent options for patients when it comes to losing a more significant amount of weight. Especially non-surgical procedures that are effective and carry minimal risks of complications. These are the Orbera gastric balloon and endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty.

What Are the Weight Loss Medications in New York? Below we make a brief review of the drugs to treat obesity most used in the New York market; in order to access them, it is necessary to have a consultation with one of our specialists who will be in charge of creating a personalized plan with the ideal medicine for each type of patient. Liraglutide Saxenda Liraglutide, sold under the trade name is an antidiabetic medication to be given as a 3 mg subcutaneous injection once daily.Its actions include: Blocking the release of glucose from the liver;

Reduce the absorption of glucose in the gastrointestinal tract;

Stimulate the release of insulin;

Decrease appetite. Liraglutide is usually indicated for the treatment of obesity in adults with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 27 who have at least one weight-related comorbidity, such as hypertension or type 2 diabetes. Obese patients without diabetes also can use the drug, but usually cannot tolerate very high doses because of side effects, mainly nausea and vomiting. Weight loss with liraglutide is 10 to 15 lbs after 16 weeks of treatment when associated with diet and exercise. Semaglutide Semaglutide, better known as Ozempic® , Rybelsus® or Wegovy® , is a drug in the same class as liraglutide. Its greatest advantage over liraglutide is the dose of 2.4 mg subcutaneous administration per week. When used with lifestyle changes, semaglutide produces an average weight loss of 12 to 18 pounds after 60 weeks. About 75% of patients report having gastrointestinal side effects, but few need to stop treatment. Semaglutide is currently the drug of choice for weight loss as its dosing is more convenient than that of liraglutide (once a week versus once a day) and studies show greater efficacy in treatment than liraglutide long term. Tirzepatide Tirzepatide, which is sold under the trade name Mounjaro® , is a drug that is given by subcutaneous injection once a week. This new drug is effective in the treatment of obesity in patients with and without diabetes and shows great potential for weight reduction, reaching 25 pounds in a study published in June 2022.The most used doses in the studies were 5 mg, 10mg, or 15mg. Adverse effects of tirzepatide most frequently include constipation. These unwanted side effects were more frequent with higher doses of the medication. As it is a new drug, it has not yet been approved by the FDA.

What Options Other Than Medical Weight Loss Are There in New York? There is no miracle drug, and there is no effortless weight loss either. Although weight loss drugs work, it is a reality that they are not the most effective treatment to achieve the desired weight. For this reason, at Innova Weight Loss Solutions we offer two procedures that are at the forefront of technology and that help the patient lose weight and adopt much healthier habits. These are the Orbera gastric balloon and the Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty. 1. Orbera Gastric Balloon This treatment consists of inserting a silicone balloon into the stomach endoscopically (a thin tube with a camera at the end). Before inserting it, the stomach is examined through the endoscope to make sure that there is no ulcer or other disease that could interfere with the placement of the device. This balloon is filled with a saline solution until it is the size of a grapefruit and its function will be to produce a limitation in stomach capacity and help the patient to modify their eating habits and lose weight. Based on more than 300,000 balloons implanted around the world, Orbera helps patients lose 3 times more weight than diet or exercise alone. The Innova Weight Loss Solutions team has placed the most gastric balloons in the United States thus far. 2. Endoscopic Sleeve (ESG) Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty is a weight loss procedure that involves reducing the size of the stomach by up to 70% through an endoscopic suture device without the need for surgery. This procedure is a great option for patients with considerable obesity. Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty results in significant weight loss. It helps you lose weight by limiting the amount of food you can eat. And the procedure is minimally invasive, which reduces the risk of surgical complications. Like the gastric balloon for weight loss, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty requires a commitment to a healthier lifestyle. The patient must make permanent healthy changes in the diet and exercise regularly to help ensure the long-term success of these procedures.

The humble Indian gooseberry, commonly known as amla, truly deserves its superfood status. The translucent green fruit, which derives its name from the Sanskrit word ‘Amlaki’ meaning “nectar of life”, can protect us against countless ailments, be it the common cold, cancer, or infertility. Ayurveda doctors claim that amla fruit can help balance the three doshas (Kapha/vista/pitta) in the body and eliminate the underlying cause of many diseases. What are the Iron Rich Drinks to Boost Your Hemoglobin?

 Pomegranates, also known as Anaar, are famous for their ruby-red tiny edible arils (seeds) and sweet-tart flavour. The fruit’s natural juice and seeds are rich in nutrients that offer multiple benefits. From controlling blood sugar levels to improving memory, pomegranates are a wonder fruit that can be an excellent addition to your diet. Pomegranate juice has a higher concentration of antioxidants, specifically polyphenols, than other fruit juices. It has approximately three times as many antioxidants as green tea or red wine. Because of this, pomegranate juice has the potential to lower low-density lipoprotein, or bad cholesterol, and help safeguard the heart. Additionally, studies have found that the compounds in pomegranate, such as gallic, oleanolic, ursolic, and uallic acids, have anti-diabetic properties. The pomegranate juice and peel extract may also help increase insulin sensitivity, which is beneficial for people with diabetes. Find out whether eating pomegranates increa...

Disenchanted (2022) Review

 DON’T LOOK DOWN! (AND DON’T WATCH THIS MOVIE) Survival movies have been around for quite some time and have had mixed results with viewers. Tales of death-defying moments of surviving the unbridled wrath of natural elements, surreal circumstances, and unlucky situations have always been fixed point of fascination with storytelling, leading to one suspense after another and finding thrills within those “fight for flight” moments. Yet, sometimes these films struggle to find a proper balance within its own context, with an unbalanced presentation of trying to focus more on the actual survival sequences (scares, suspense, and thrills) and not much on its characters and story progression. Sometimes narrative can be well-founded within true life events (i.e., based on a true story), while other times some survival accounts were created from fiction. Such prime examples of lates includes 2015’s The Martian, 2015’s Everest, 2016’s The Revenant, 2017’s 47 Meters Down, 2018’s Adrift, 2019’s...
